Angela H., Ph.D.:
I am delighted to have this opportunity share my experience of physical therapy and body conditioning with Steve Ryan—he has saved my life! When I first came to Steve, I was on disability due to intense pain when sitting down. You can imagine that as a Psychotherapist, this completely disrupted my career, as well as my overall life. During the previous nine months of disability, I had been seen by several practitioners, including MD’s, Chiropractors and Accupuncturists, and endured several invasive procedures. With no improvement made, I was becoming more disabled and depressed. I worried I would never work again. Then one day, my luck changed! A coworker told me about a physical therapist that had helped her husband. Admittedly, I was only slightly encouraged. With nothing to lose, I made an appointment with Steve Ryan. Much to my surprise, Steve diagnosed my problem during the FIRST VISIT and I was able to resume sitting the same day! It was unbelievable!! I knew this was the guy who could help me recover and I so wished I could have met him much earlier. Today I am happy to report my condition greatly improved and I am happily back to work! Not only did Steve diagnose my problem at the first exam, he immediately began teaching me ways in which I can increase my physical health and healing and decrease my pain. Staying abreast of the literature, as well as the latest innovations in his field, Steve is able and motivated to help people achieve the best physical functioning possible. Being highly intuitive and intelligent, along with being exceptionally well trained and practiced, he is brilliant at tailoring his teaching methods to what will best motivate the individual. It is without reservation that I can say, anyone fortunate enough to find themselves in the professional care of Steve Ryan will no doubt, benefit beyond expectation.
Steven Oppenheimer, M.D., F.A.C.P.:
I came under the care of Steve Ryan after a significant auto accident resulting in much damage to my left shoulder. Two surgeries were required for the repair.
I found Steve Ryan to be very knowledgeable and able to focus appropriately on individual components of a complex problem. His many years of experience as a professional dancer and physical therapist equip him to visualize individual aspects of body mechanics and offer concrete approaches to improving function. I have been impressed with his ability to apply his expertise to my individual needs and to come up with a program where solid progress can be regularly perceived. His observational skills referable to body mechanics have assisted me in a better understanding of the complex dynamics involving a major joint such as the shoulder.
His positive approach has a way of encouraging “participation in the program”, leading to a sense of steady accomplishment of the goals of the physical therapy. I am further impressed by his innovative thinking, with application of general principles to my individual needs. Finally, I have learned from him the value of proper body mechanics in preventing further damage over the coming years.
I highly recommend this intelligent, motivated and insightful individual as a physical therapist.
Bob Rende, MD:
I received care from Steve Ryan for a chronic neck and back problem. I had visited several other physical therapists with minimal improvement. From the first treatment with Steve I felt incredible relief. My condition all of a sudden seemed treatable and Steve really gave me a gift by allowing me to be pain free. I have since received many treatment sessions from Steve and I am always pleased with his technique and results. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and a sincerely caring therapist. I am so much better thanks to Steve. It is also amazing how much better I feel psychologically since he started me on the road to being free of neck and back pain.
